LaL/a is a passionate artistic director and collaborator. Lal has produced large-scale collaborations including SPILL (Line Breaks Hip Hop Theater Festival), CORE (Chicago Hip Hop Theater Festival), and Welcome Home (Steppenwolf LookOut Series). Lal is an alumna of Kuumba Lynx Performance Ensemble and First Wave Hip Hop & Urban Arts program.

Lal's visual art is influenced heavily by his Chicanx identity, his daughter Ollin, and his relationship with ancestors and spirit. His practice ranges from drawing and mural making to metal embossing and installation art. Lal is an alumna of Marwen and Yollocalli Arts Reach.
Lal is a poet and storyteller who writes as proof of survival.
Lal first began writing through her participation in Kuumba Lynx, RadioArte, Young Chicago Authors, and later, First Wave. Lal has written 2 poetry chapbooks and is a former Chicago youth slam poetry champion (Louder Than A Bomb 2010, Kuumba Lynx).
Lal's poem "Chicago Soul Poem" can be seen on the CTA Blue Line for National Poetry Month 2026. Additionally, you can catch the poem placard on the O'Hare Airport Transit System.
Lal poetry installation piece, "On Pins and Needles" is on display at Chicago Park District's Kennicott Park at 4434 S Lake Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60653 as a part of Kuumba Lynx Poetry making TRAIL 2026.
Lal was the lyricist and vox for Kebranto, a Chicanx/Mexican Punk Band in Chicago from 2022-2023.
